My floor is covered in brightly colored long strips of canvas that make my heart heart pound and my skin glow. Its a beautiful thing.
My commissions are stacking up, Im way behind and all I can do is look at these free spirits all around me. Once Im done the commissions Ive taken on, Im not doing any more. Im going to let myself bask in the world of abstraction. Im so far lost in the love of the paint, I dont ever want to return to a world of lines restricted and bound by facial features and sk…

Its nice to find new/interesting material on what we do. As I become more and more involved in my art and myself as an artist, I find myself getting lost and consumed into painting. This evolution is very interesting and exciting.

Another thin layer of skin tones. I also added a thin dark layer to the walls. I took away some of the underlayers that were still visible in the hair, but as you can tell, the over all toneality needs to be darker to avoid the figure looking as though she is cut out.

The dead underlayer gives the glow to the skin that the old master created. It should be the color of the moon, not black and white, but hues of blue and grey.

This is the first coat in this layer. I will go back again with darker shades of the Umber to create more depth tomorrow...
Tonight I was thinking, sometimes a painting is inspired my music, but then once in a while, the song comes to you while the painting takes form. This song has so…

Olive Green!
Okay, so here is the first layer. This is 30x40 on canvas. It was done live, about 3 hours of painting and chatting!

This seven layer technique was practiced and perfected by Peter Paul Rubens, Anthony van Dyck, and Frans Snyders, and is practiced by very few artists in the world today.
The technique requires an application of seven distinct layers of paint applied over a canvas coated with Fla…

Let me just start this blog by saying, I know that I am not perfect. I know that I have an attitude and a very defensive personality when I am being blamed for things that are not true or being lied to. I'm a lot smarter than I look and although some will play me for a fool, I am not a fool at all. I may not talk or look like i'm very intelligent but you'd be suprised about what information you'd find stored in this little brain of mine. But, mostly, I am not perfect!
I thought that maybe I’d…

FRIDAY, Feb. 27 (HealthDay News) -- You might look like you're not paying attention when you doodle, but science says otherwise.
Researchers in the United Kingdom found that test subjects who doodled while listening to a recorded message had a 29 percent better recall of the message's details than those who didn't doodle. The findings were published in Applied Cognitive Psychology.
"If someone is doing a boring task, like listening to a dull telephone conversation, they may start to daydream,"…

To Ning or not to Ning, that is the question.
As many of my fellow online artist friends created a Ning account, I was hesitant. One of the main reasons to do so, would be to teach. I’ve had many people, tell me that they want to learn from me and I am always getting questions about how I do what I do…even from artists with art deplomas, unlike myself.
So I find myself wondering, “What do people want to know?” I hope that I can help people learn new techniques and be able to see things in a pe…
